Welcome to the Interventions page at Carlinville Intermediate School!
We are committed to providing targeted interventions and support to ensure that every student receives the assistance they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
WHAT ARE INTERVENTIONS?
Interventions are proactive measures designed to address specific areas of need and support student growth and development. These interventions may target academic challenges, behavioral concerns, social-emotional issues, or a combination of factors impacting student success.
ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONS
SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION
We offer small group instruction sessions to provide targeted support in areas such as reading, math, and writing. These sessions allow educators to tailor instruction to the individual needs of students and provide additional practice and reinforcement of key concepts.
INDIVIDUALIZED LEARNING PLANS (ILPS)
For students with unique learning needs, we develop Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) that outline specific goals, accommodations, and strategies to support their academic success. These plans are created collaboratively with educators, parents/guardians, and other support staff to ensure a holistic approach to student learning.
BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTIONS
POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONS AND SUPPORTS (PBIS)
Our school implements Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to promote positive behavior and create a supportive and respectful school climate. PBIS strategies include clear expectations, consistent reinforcement of positive behaviors, and targeted interventions for students who may need additional support.
RESTORATIVE PRACTICES
We utilize restorative practices to address conflicts and behavioral issues in a constructive and restorative manner. Restorative practices focus on repairing harm, building positive relationships, and fostering accountability and empathy among students.
SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL INTERVENTIONS
COUNSELING AND SUPPORT SERVICES
Our school counselor provides individual and group counseling sessions to address social-emotional concerns such as anxiety, stress, peer relationships, and self-esteem. These sessions offer a safe and supportive space for students to explore their feelings, develop coping skills, and build resilience.
SEL (SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING) PROGRAMS
We integrate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs into our curriculum to promote the development of essential social and emotional skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION
We believe that effective collaboration and communication among educators, parents/guardians, and support staff are essential for the success of intervention efforts. We work closely with all stakeholders to identify areas of need, develop targeted interventions, and monitor progress over time.
