Notice of Public Hearing Concerning the Intent of
the Board of Education of
Community Unit School District Number 1, Macoupin County, Illinois,
To Sell $4,000,000 School Fire Prevention and Safety Bonds AND $1,000,000 Insurance Reserve Fund Bonds
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Community Unit School District Number 1, Macoupin County, Illinois (the “District”), will hold a public hearing on the 13th day of January, 2025, at 7:00 o’clock P.M. The hearing will be held at Carlinville High School, 829 West Main Street, Carlinville, Illinois. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public comments on the proposal to sell bonds in the amount of $4,000,000 for the purpose of conforming its existing facilities that house students to the building code promulgated by the State Board of Education of the State of Illinois, by altering, reconstructing and repairing said facilities and having equipment purchased and installed therein, and bonds of the District in the amount of $1,000,000 for the purpose of creating a reserve for the payment of any cost, liability or loss against which the District may protect itself or self?insure pursuant to the Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act of the State of Illinois, as amended (the “Act”), or for the payment of which the District may levy a tax pursuant to the Act, including any or all tort judgments or settlements entered against or entered into by the District.

Craig lives in rural Carlinville with his wife, Kara, and 3 school age children. Craig farms with his family and is a Loan Officer at CNB Bank & Trust. He and his family enjoy farming, raising cattle and being outdoors. Craig attended Carlinville schools K-12 and graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a major in Agribusiness Economics.

Dan Kallal is the youngest of five children and was raised on the family farm near Chesterfield. He attended primary school at Chesterfield and secondary school at Carlinville. He attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Science in 1977. After college, Dan farmed for more than 40 years raising hogs, corn and soybeans on the farm where he grew up. He retired in 2021. Retirement activities have included completing the interior construction of his house addition, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity in Springfield, and cooking pork chops and pork burgers on the Carlinville Square as fundraisers for various groups. Sundays you will find Dan at Saints Mary and Joseph Catholic Church followed by breakfast at "Plaza" or "Eni's". If the weather cooperates, he will be riding on his 1975 BMW motorcycle. Dan has a very understanding wife, Marilyn, two children, Beth and Becca, and two grandchildren, Kasten ad Kailyn.

Bob Duckels and his wife Kristy were born and raised in Carlinville. We are both proud graduates of Carlinville High School. We have three sons: Mason (CHS Class of 2022), Tate (Class of 2026) and Callum (Class of 2029). We come from a tradition of Carlinville educators on both sides of the family and fifteen years ago decided to move back home so our boys could be educated here. We are so happy we did!
