Melanie Rosentreter
7th & 8th Grade
Melanie has been teaching 8th-grade American History at CMS since 1993. During several of those years, she has also taught 7th grade social studies. Mrs. Rosentreter graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with middle school endorsements in Social Science and ELA. Melanie returned to SIUE graduating with a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology in 2004. Melanie loves to share her love of history with her students and foster their curiosity and understanding of the world around them. She also prides herself on helping students develop a bag of tricks or memory clues to help them retain information. Ask any former student of hers to sing The Presidents’ Song! During her teaching career, Melanie was the CMS cheerleading sponsor for four years. She also helped chaperone many dances and coordinate activities during her involvement with the CMS PTO where she served as treasurer for ten years. When not teaching, Melanie enjoys reading, quilting, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She is most proud of her three adult sons and daughters-in-law.
