Kaitie Hammann

6th and 7th Grade

Kaitie is a proud 2007 graduate of Carlinville High School, and has been teaching at Carlinville Middle School since 2011. She graduated from Illlinois State University in 2010, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, with middle school endorsements in ELA, Science, Social Science, and Reading. In 2017, Kaitie graduated from SIUE with her Master's Degree in Educational Administration. Kaitie knew that she wanted to be a teacher from a very early age, and teaching middle school children is her passion. Being able to share her love of reading, writing, and of course, her sense of humor with her middle schoolers is something she enjoys every day. Her goal is to create an enviroment in which her students feel safe, loved, and respected, so they are willing to share their thoughts, beliefs, and opinions in classroom discussions. Ultimately, empowering students through books to use their own voice, be creative thinkers, and find their own passions is the objective of her classes. On top of teaching ELA, Kaitie is currently the head volleyball coach at Carlinville High School (Go Cavies!), and has been since 2018. She also coached the Carlinville Middle School volleyball team for ten years. Outside of school, Katie enjoys travelling, reading (especially by a pool, or any body of water),spending time with her family, friends, husband, Quin, and son, Turner.
